The Region
Lodged between the smooth coast of Romagna and the ruggedness of Abruzzo, The Marche region has a territory which alternates between smooth, sandy coastlines and soft hillsides occasionally interrupted by striking precipices and intruiguing caves.
The city of Ancona is a trove of cutural and historic heritage that has recently benefitted from renewed interest and valorization by local authorities. The other cities of this region are also noteworthy for their medieval and Renaissance artistic and architectural works.
Of note are the theatrical and musical events programmed in Ascoli Piceno's wondeful Sferisterio theater.
