Lower Molise
 |
Lower Molise is a transition area between the mountains characteristic of Abruzzo and the plains of Apuglia, sprinkled with pictuesque small towns and castles. |
| Termoli |

The itinerary launches in Termoli, the most developped area of Molise, both economically and for seaside tourism. Of note are the castle built by Frederick II and the Cathedral of San Basso, both XIIth century works. |
| Guglionesi |

This town has the distinction of having three churches of distinctly different periods: the romanic S. Nicola, the XVIth century S.Maria delle Grazie and the XVIIth century S.Maria Maggiore. |
| Trigno Valley |
This valley marks the southern limit of the region and is easily described by its hilltop towns, each crowned by an ancient castle.
Thus, we encounter Montefalcone nel Sannio, whose castle remains are beside a beautiful church and the palazzo Reale, the abbey of Madonna di Cannetto, Trivento and its cathedral, Torella del Sannio and finally Castropignano.
From this point, the visitor can pursue the journey towards Campobasso or trek back towards the seashore and Termoli. |
